As the owner of a dog and 2 small children (!), I've noticed the disappearance of 3 useful bins on my route to All Saints school and Putney Common. First to go was the bin at the corner of Upper Richmond Rd and Dryburgh (by the Leisure Centre). I think it was relocated to the bus stop, but surely the bin was more use where it was - for people just walking past, hanging around outside the leisure centre or using the crossing? Next to go was the bin on the corner of Putney Common near the entrance to the Churchyard (again, relocated further in the Common but not in as handy a spot - especially when the common is wet and muddy). And now the bin on the corner of Dryburgh/Eglistan Rd - vanished completely a week ago. I'm not the only person to have noticed this. Surely it's cheaper to collect refuse from bins rather than sweep the streets for litter from those who wouldn't bother searching for the next bin or carry their litter / poo bag home (not easy when you have kids with you...) |
