Finally cycled over Putney Bridge last night and now very definitely have my two pennorth to add to this thread! I didn't see the cycle lane because I was going southbound, but the experience of trying to move from the bus lane across two lanes to turn right into Lower Richmond Road in the dark was terrifying. I'm a confident cyclist but the potholes all the way across the bridge are now so numerous that they've joined up into trenches parallel to the lane lines, and it's insanely dangerous to cross them with bike wheels - akin to crossing tramlines. Add to this having only one hand to steer while the other is indicating right, whilst simultaneously trying to make eye contact with two lanes of drivers by streetlight to ensure they'd seen me before I manoeuvred and you have a recipe for going under a car. Oh, and there's a lot of melted tarmac on the Fulham side of the bridge making ridges and peaks which need to be avoided too! I won't be going that way again for a while if I can help it! Must email this to councillor Jim to see what can be done about this horrible potholes.
