| I am a female rider who crosses Putney Bridge every morning and cycles into the City. I agree totally with comments about 'owning' the road and I see too many females nervously clinging to the kerbs, getting bullied off the road. My comment would be that I would like to forget the bridge entirely and cycle the Thames Cycle Path all the way into town....traffic free, nice river scenery...but er. no -Why? because some council official gave all the developers permission to build fancy flats that have eradicated the path in places, blocking access along the river to pedestrians and cyclists alike. Has anyone else ever tried to walk south of the river towards Battersea and into town? You end having to wander around industrial estates and back streets. I wonder what ever happened to that lovely route?! |
