| How about just cross carefully as you presumably already do? It seems a bit pointless putting in traffic lights etc when the traffic is stationary anyway. Look before stepping out from behind a vehicle etc. etc.. I do think the barrier creates a nasty pinch point though as it is not quite two lanes wide so creates a jam, often without much space for pedestrians to cross or cycles / motorbikes to get through. It does amaze me though how many people get off the bus just down Putney Hill from here and just stream across the road without even looking to see if there is any traffic coming down (cars, motorbike or bikes). |
