| Michael, you really are extraordinarily boorish. Are you incapable of expressing your point of view in a civil manner? I don’t think my last comment can be described as a ‘whine’. I simply assumed, when you pointed out that two of the measures I mentioned were in Labour’s manifesto, that you were referring to my previous post, where I highlighted the farm tax, the minimum wage and the use of British bases. It is perfectly true, as you say, that net zero and VAT on independent schools were in the manifesto, though handing over the Chagos Islands against the will of its inhabitants certainly was not. My point is that all these measures are spectacularly stupid, adopted without due consideration of the harm they will cause, the motive in every case being the wish to win the approval of leftist ideologues in the party. I don’t care whether these policies were in the manifesto or not. If they are stupid, they are stupid and should be abandoned or suitably modified. |
