Unfortunately, it may be a bit more than speculation, Elizabeth: according to the Guardian today "The government is considering a temporary relaxation of night-flight restrictions around Heathrow airport as part of plans to clear a backlog of 400,000 stranded air passengers when a UK flying ban is lifted. It is understood that ministers are mulling the implementation of a 24-hour operation..." (http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/apr/20/volcano-ash-night-flight-ban-lifted) On the other hand, there's also this rather good news: "Hopes that Heathrow airport would open from 7pm were thrown into doubt as a fresh plume of volcanic dust drifted towards Britain."
