Martin, this is indeed good news but it has taken SO long to get to this stage.  Now for 20 mph on ALL residential roads!  It works in Portsmouth, Bristol, Oxford, Cambridge, Norwich, Edinburgh, and now Dublin.  Why not here too?  Slower traffic speeds make life better for residents, pedestrians and cyclists.

As I understand it the West Putney scheme will involve some humps but only on wider roads like Chartfield.  And no new speed cameras either, so I hear.  But it will go to consultation so local residents (those in the area involved) get the chance to vote - on the scheme as a whole, by the way, not hump by hump.

I know people don't like humps (and I don't either), nor do ambulance drivers, fire engines and the like, but you have to admit they are effective!  Nobody speeds on Erpingham Rd any more.
