| Rayner would be a hopeless PM and I suspect enough people will agree with that to make sure it never happens. The analysis of local results by Putney News is worth a read: https://putney.news/2026/05/09/what-wandsworths-council-would-look-like-if-votes-actually-decided-it/?utm_source=Putney.news&utm_campaign=b358960519-Daily+newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_ffe896a2d6-b358960519-296644086 Although Kieren says he is not arguing for PR, he shows what a different result it would have produced. If we believe that results should reflect what voters prefer in what is now a five party system, then a version of PR is needed. It seems wrong that so many voters preferences are being ignored under the current system and that a councillor, or MP, could now be elected on as little as a quarter of the vote. |
