Well, I mentioned asbestos rather as an example of the downfall of bright and optimist expectations of the new.

However, in this case, M&S seem to say that the presence of asbestos rules out any refurbishment of the existing building, but, of course, demolition is perfectly do-able. All I know is that buildings with asbestos have been refurbished. Not the size of this one, but a school and libraries.
