Adam, I don’t think anyone here has quibbled with the council’s consultation issue response. In retrospect it does seem fair. I myself rarely get to park in the street where I live. What remains unfair, however, is the fact that communication of the council’s decision was restricted to a consultation page on its website and the local press. This resulted in paying residents being unaware of the changes and being fined. This then begs the question, how are residents meant to check something if they don’t know it’s about to exist and don’t access the media in which it's being publicised? The change in parking zone wasn’t even reflected on the council’s own parking zone map until 3 weeks after the change. Evidently, the first some residents knew of the change was by virtue of a penalty charge notice. As for your statement, “Who is going to vote to reducing their ability to park in someone else’s street” - well, I would have if the question had been put to me openly and fairly. It wasn’t though. Now some residents are left to appeal a £100 fine for using a paid for service that was withdrawn at effectively no notice with minimal warning.
