Sorry to hear about that Alice.

I got my first parking ticket in Deodar Road and was tempted to pay the initial £50 fine rather than a doubled £100 one. I didn’t though because it smacked of coercion and bullying.

Look at it this way - if someone stopped you in the street and demanded £50, it’d be classed as mugging. The council though can seemingly demand a similar sum from residents for using a ‘service’ that has:

- Already been paid for in an annual parking permit;

- Seemingly been withdrawn unilaterally without consultation or prior warning.

To add insult to injury, I live with my grandmother. She’s 93 now and has lived in the area for almost 30 years. We used to park in Deodar Road so Nan could go to Putney High Street. She doesn’t want to now as she can’t face the extra walk. This may seem minor to some but it isn’t to us.

£50 isn’t an inconsiderable sum either.
