| John: It might be more helpful if you had taken a photo of the very clear notice at the beginning of the path which tells you what is actually happening. Briefly it says that the works are being carried out under the 2014 Development and Consent Order which set out the plans and regulations under which the various Thames Tunnel works will be constructed. A small part of the Common will be taken on a temporary basis for a period of two years. No part of the Common has been "flogged off". At the same time the Dept for the Environment is carrying out repairs to Ashlone Wharf, which necessitates narrowing of the footpath.
