| Hi Roland, agree with everything you've posted. The original thread you couldn't find was mine 'wandsworth library proposal' which received little attention so I am glad it's been brought up again. Perhaps it would be timely to remind those people of Putney and Wandsworth (and inform those who weren't here at the time) that this brings back to mind the untimely closure of Wandsworth Museum in the Courthouse in Wandsworth in order to put a new central library in its place! Where are you now ex councillor Malcolm Grimston and ex Leader Edward Lister? This amazingly shortsighted decision (as it now appears to be) resulted in the local award winning Museum being closed down for years before WBC suddenly had a brainwave (which a number of us had suggested right at the beginning) to move the Musuem into the newly vacated West Hill library space alongside the De Morgan Centre (which also had to close but again has now been able to return to its site!)while West Hill library was moved into central Wandsworth!) What flaming waste of OUR money WBC - and now you plan to decimate the library service you fought so long and hard to move a few hundred yards down the road. Happy to sign off as Disgusted of Putney |
