Yes, the reason I got the wrong end of the stick about the possible ending of the so-called 'experiment' about freedom to use buses throughout England was that back in October I was talking to a Councillor in another South London area, who said that the costs were mounting, and something needed to be done - that was the perceived solution, then. Now things seem to have moved on. I gather that the latest proposal is to raise the 'admission' age for eligibility by one month every two months, so that in 10 years' time the age at which you become eligible is 65, not 60 as at present. However, I can not find any statutory authority. I expect I will get shot for saying this, but this does not seem unreasonable in current circumstances.
