Well, the short answer is that it's simply populist (many people see bankers as a hate figures), and Brown will do anything for a short-term fix. But the longer answer is that they should be - by taxing *everyone* on high incomes, not just the bankers.

In your second paragraph imply that I've suggested that bankers and the other parasites on society be abolished: no, I just suggest that they should be paid in proportion to their value - and taxed if they are not. Incidentally, what's Redstar.com? You think NEF is a communist organisation? I don't think so...
