Let's not forget one thing that Brown is conveniently deflecting attention from. Brown exclusively provided the conditions, ie inadequate financial regulatory supervision (by creating the FSA), provision of cheap borrowing conditions and the promotion of debt financing (which he also practiced as chancellor) which resulted in the mess we are in now as a consequence of the downturn, failed growth projections and hence lower than forecast tax revenues. Blaming the banks is populist, shallow but typical of Brown who always refuses to accept responsibility for his own actions. Finally, financial services is the one sector in which the UK can compete globally. Before he finally gets ejected from Number 10, Brown seems determined to undermine and hence kill the golden goose that keeps this wretched (as a result of 12 years of Labour economic mismanagement)economy afloat |
