I seem to recall brokers fees recently reported for nursing recruitment in the UK. Also recently direct fees and costs for some of the visas that the UK introduced meant that many sold all their possessions and some took out loans, only to find they were not fit for the jobs, got sacked and deported as the visa was tied to their employment. If it can happen here it can happen anywhere: https://www.timesofisrael.com/modern-slavery-how-foreign-caregivers-in-israel-have-been-extorted-for-decades/ "ToI exposes a multi-million-dollar industry in which foreign workers are compelled to pay ‘placement fees’ to employment ‘brokers’ – with the government’s full knowledge" "Global Slavery Index finds Jewish state doing relatively well, but problem persists" https://www.timesofisrael.com/thousands-of-slaves-in-israel-global-study-finds/amp/ |
