| John, in fact Israel is involved in slavery. According to the Global Slavery Index 2023, an estimated 3.8 in every thousand people were in modern slavery in Israel at any point in 2021. In other words, 5,000 people experienced forced labour or forced marriage in Israel in 2021. Israel ranks 114th globally and 32nd within Europe and Central Asia. But of course the “terrible mistreatment of its Palestinian and Arab neighbours” goes much wider and deeper than just so-called modern slavery. Just ask those who live in Gaza and the West Bank as we seen on the news everyday. Nick |
