| Child benefit needs to be looked at more carefully. I didn't need it, and neither do most people in Putney who own homes valued at three times the national average. At some point a politician will have to decide to limit child benefit to the first two children. In Barbados for example, you only got Government help for the first child, after that, you were free to decide how many children you could afford. It seems frankly ridiculous that Samantha Cameron should get the same child benefit as a nurse with three children. Also that wealthy pensioners should get free TV and Winter fuel allowances. We need to get to grips with means testing who gets what, even it means losing votes, which as usual, is the fundamental issue. |
