A bit unfair to characterise Nick's point (1) as nimbyism; anyway, it contains two separate points: (a) that growth is not a good thing in itself: world resources are limited and it's time we recognised that and stopped pursuing the growth thing, and (b) Putney shouldn't be automatically continue being developed if the infrastructure (transport, schools etc) isn't there to support it: development should take place where it can be supported, which may or may not be in Putney. And his second point, that brownfield sites should only be used is surely irrefutable. |
