During the 22 years I have lived here, I have watched WBC grant permission for flats to be built in every nook and cranny in Putney, now they are running out of space they are developing skyward. There is no doubt SENSIBLE development of URR between the stations is welcome (imho) however to start an upward trend of buildings in PHS is ridiculous. Why...because it's one of the most polluted high streets in the country, the council has had years to find solutions but has done little (nothing?). Taller buildings will trap more pollution for longer. I firmly believe the granting of planning permission for so many blocks of flats in the borough is all about maximising council tax income so our glorious council can keep boasting the lowest tax in the country...but at what cost to our quality of life?
