Moving the taxi rank around the corner to the URR outside the estate agents is a good idea, especially considering how few taxis use it. It would allow people to walk to a taxi without wandering around a busy junction (many whilst drunk or with luggage/shopping). I disagree that redeveloping the station with a Fulham Broadway type development is a good idea, it would be hugely expensive, disruptive and unfair to many homeowners. However a smaller build over the railway by the Oxford Rd bridge - behind the Art School across to the URR shops - would be cheaper, less disruptive and would affect far fewer homes. It would also provide excellent access to the station for East Putney residents. Finally, time to get rid of the horrible concrete benches at the end of Disraeli Rd (and those bloody pigeons). Use the space for bicycles, get rid of the car space and give more room for motorbikes, then replace the bike spaces outside the library with benches - it's a lovely sunny spot not overlooked by all the pigeons. |
