Based on my own experience (which, in this forum, is generally regarded as the only evidence that counts...) I would say about the same proportion of cyclists behave badly, as do car/lorry/bus drivers who park across cycle lanes, turn left without indicating, open doors into the traffic without looking, fail to stop at zebra crossings, squeeze through gaps that aren't big enough, etc etc. Most people behave well, some don't, in whatever circumstances you like to pick. 'Twas ever thus. I won't condem all drivers and demand the removal of cars from the road in response to the twit who lurched left and nearly squashed me last week, if you allow that most of us on bikes are just trying to get where we are going in a sensible, economical and vaguely healthy way. |
