Is it the stretch of permitted cycle path along the eastern edge of the common from the Beverley Brook bridge to the roundabout near the Spencer Arms (parallel with Commondale)? This is currently a footpath standard grass track, which gets muddy no matter who uses it. A - surely cheap enough - solution would be one which I have seen on cycle paths over grass near Chichester and on the Thames path near Staines: a sort of cross hatching of rubber/plastic is embedded into the path making the surface more hardwearing and resistant to muddy puddles while still allowing the general look of the common to remain unchanged and grassy. I probably haven't explained it well so here is a link to a picture of what I'm talking about: http://www.adpsurfacesolutions.co.uk/adpave25.html |
