No one presumes footways are for cyclists, if you did you're research instead of ranting, you'd understand the lcc and ctc campaign for safer roads for cyclists because that is the best place for cyclists, but as a cyclist (I also drive now and again) I am faced with aggressive and dangerous driving by some car drivers because they feel they own the roads or because they think cyclists cause delays when it's quite clear who really causes the traffic jams. At the end of the day cycling has never been so popular in London and will continue to be (not that I think a path needs to be paved over on common land, just provide a seperate route for cyclists if it is really needed e.g, Wimbledon Windmill to Tibbets Corner. If people whether they walk, cycle or drive had more mutual respect for each other then there wouldn't be any problems but some drivers particulary are the agressor when it comes to cyclists using the road legally. |
