I see the answer now! As a regular driver and cyclist around London, there is a very simple solution. Every single cyclist should simply use a car for every journey. It would be much safer for everyone, because the resulting total traffic gridlock would mean that the completely immobilised cars wouldn't be aggressive, pushy or indeed moving at all. Hooray!! Of course, no-one would actually get anywhere, but sitting in cars looking at a total absence of bikes would more than make up for it. (Here's another theory. Some drivers really really hate some cyclists because they are subconsiously, secretly eaten up with jealousy, of both the lycra-clad thighs and the easy jam-jumping they can achieve. There is nothing more enraging than sitting impotently in your castle-on-wheels whilst fitter, braver, more determined people whip past full of energy and adrenalin. If you can't beat them, or join them, moan about a few bits of green and blue paint on the road.) |
