Sorry Paul for being pedantic...couldn't resist! Seriously though, if the noise level is at unsociable hours ie: 2am then of course you've every right to contact the relevant authority but away from that the neighbours have every right to have work done to their house during daylight hours and I'm sure the excessive noise is only necessary vis a vis the work in hand. I'm sure they're not deliberately trying to upset you or your mum! I don't know what the "hours" are but to me between 9am and 6pm doesn't seem unreasonable. We had it 8-8 6 days a week for 3 weeks when next door were having their loft conversion and I know the noise a jack-hammer can make...Krrr Krrrr Krrrrrrrrrr (rubble falling) Krrr Krrrr Krrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr (rubble falling)...etc If your neighbours had any decency they'd buy yer old mum a bottle of single malt and a big box of chocs as a "thank you" present at the end of the works. In the meanwhile a noise abatement order will be defunct by the time you've gone through the procedures...grin and bear it! |
