"Snapshot data from the DfT shows that between 2020 and 2023, the overall number of motor vehicles on Putney Bridge was estimated to have increased by 16%, from 32,083 to 37,239 and the council’s own automatic traffic count data shows a 25% increase in traffic during the morning peak hours between 2019-2023." Yes, I remember commenting on here on these figures, which were presented by the Labour Party at the meeting at the Platt Centre - and particularly at their rank dishonesty. Comparing 2020 with 2023? But 2020 was at the height of the pandemic when traffic was artificially suppressed, and in any case it was after the Bridge had closed. Much the same applies to the 2019-2023 comparison, since the great majority of the 2019 figures again occurred after the 10th April closure of the Bridge. An honest presentation of figures would have compared 2023 with the last full year before the closure, 2018, but they didn't do that. I'll leave it to you to decide why that was. |
