The Park has survived decades of car traffic, with no apparent harm to the deer, who undergo an annual cull to control the increase in population, and large numbers of trees mitigate pollution. To close the park at a time when Hammersmith Bridge issues are forcing traffic towards this area seems utterly foolish, and will only exacerbate the current problems, when as many alternative routes should be available as possible. I would agree with the poster who wants to cut down the number of cyclists, many of whom, unlike most motorists do not obey the speed limit, and are making life miserable for many other Park users. The pedestrian gates should be shut at night to all human traffic, to give wildlife a free run of the place when they most need it. |
