I agree with you Lucille. Close the park during morning and afternoon rush hours would make a lot of sense. Closing it 100% is really unacceptable. Also, by so doing, a proper traffic management approach must be in place. There is a school next to Roehampton Gate and many parents do drive their children there because, as you say, there is no reasonable public transport nearby. Also, access to the school (and may I add the back of Froebel College) are narrow roads, be it Clarence Lane or Priory Lane. The same would apply to access to the Bank of England club and the Lawn Tennis Association courts. As far as I am concerned, have a considered approach to the use of the Park by cars (and bicycles too!) but certainly do not transfer the problem to surrounding areas without a second thought or relevant consideration. |
