On Tuesday evening, I saw a very impressive little TfL 4-wheeled buggy towing a gritter along the pavement on the north side of the URR from the Post Office in the direction of the High Street.

To make the gritting attachment function properly, it has to travel fairly ‘progressively’, i.e  at least 5 mph, and if it has to slow for pedestrians, the distributor ceases to distribute. So the end result was patchy in parts. But a vast improvement on doing nothing, and much more productive than doing it by hand.

A perfect job could of course be achieved by doing this at dead of night, but the costs would be…..
