"You seem to take it for granted that Bernie Sanders is right in saying Trump’s  use of military force to extradite Maduro is unconstitutional. Surely that is a decision for the Supreme Court"

No, that won't happen.

Role of the Supreme Court

Political Question Doctrine: Federal courts, including the Supreme Court, generally avoid "war powers" issues, viewing them as political disputes between the President and Congress rather than matters for judicial resolution.

Lack of Precedent: The Supreme Court has never directly resolved the modern debate over the President’s power to initiate military action without congressional approval.

Reticence to Intervene: Legal experts suggest there is "no real chance" that courts will curb current military operations in Venezuela, as the judiciary persistently favours the Commander-in-Chief in foreign affairs.
