The truth is that Trump orchestrates these performative, headline grabbing displays; ‘you ain’t got the cards merton in the White House, the Putin tough guys airport meeting, and now this seven day take it or leave it deal.
None of them go anywhere or produce anything meaningful, other than hog the headlines briefly.
What is needed is a serious process with all parties engaged with the first step aiming to establish some trust.
In all honesty, Trump is completely out of his depth here.
