Hello Michael I, Thank you so much for your post which I agree with 100%. It is interesting to note that both Netanyahu and Putin have ICC warrants against them. Not surprisingly, Netanyahu visited the US and not arrests were made...... I agree with the disproportionate military might between Israel and Hamas. Yes, many of us agree that the attack by Hamas in Israel on 7 October 2023 was beyond horrific, despicable and reprehensible. But it is also true that Israel did admit it sadly "had its eye off the ball" or words to that effect when the attack took place. But that was then and today is today. Your question about the children's suffering at the moment in Gaza is very fair and it is gut wrenching seeing all those hungry and hurt children. Despicable! Whether it is Hamas' fault or the Israelis, it is irrelevant to those poor children. Their suffering is to be blamed to both sides. "If Israel, or perhaps more accurately the IDF, are now the effective occupiers of Gaza do international agreements mean they are now responsible for rectifying the humanitarian situation created by the conflict?" Yes, IDF and Israel are responsible for rectifying the humanitarian situation created by the conflict. I am not saying that Hamas should go scot-free, on the contrary and not in a million years! But Israel and the IDF must assume responsibility for the destruction or decimation of Gaza. |
