Hello Jonathan, I agree that Felsham and Lacy Roads have been blocked to through traffic from and to Putney High Street for a very long time. They are not blocked all the way through to Erpingham Road though. Also, I cannot see how you could block Lacy Road from Putney High Street to Mascotte Street as the entrance to the parking lot in Putney Exchange is just before Mascotte Road and there is also a Waitrose in the Exchange too. Perhaps the principle of the LTN is not altogether incorrect but the way they have been designed and implemented is beyond appalling. Ambulances not being able to enter the LTNs? Even residents not allowed to enter them??? Good luck to you if you need work done in your home. Mind boggles! Keep traffic on main roads is fine by me, but make traffic circulate and not be stuck in enormous tailbacks as we see in Putney and Fulham. It really is a joke. You take a bus (you know, one of the favoured bits of public transport) and they stop somewhere along the way because of the traffic and because they have not kept to their timetable. It really is beyond ridiculous! So, Jonathan, your daughter lives in a fairly new LTN in Haringey. There are noisy complaints from people having to find new side roads to go from A to B.... Is it me or is the LTN not fulfilling its purpose? Having to find new side roads to go from A to B? Where is the main road? And what about the residents of those side roads? And no, the whole concept remains controversial because, as in my case, the LTN at the end of our road was a nightmare! "War on Motorists" is a term I have used a few times (I am not part of the motor lobby). I cannot see why I have to be responsible for cyclist who ignore red lights or pedestrians who cross the road without looking and/or or staring at their phones... We have become a society of prohibition and complete lack of consideration to other road users. |
