Thamesfield Ward has had an LTN for over 30 years. Felsham and Lacy roads were blocked to through traffic many years ago, as was Charlwood just north of the railway bridge. People living to the west of the High Street have had minimal through traffic for decades, as a result. I am not aware that any of them want to change that. The principle of LTNs is to keep through traffic on the main roads which seems fair enough to me. My daughter lives within a fairly new LTN in Haringey borough and it’s still there despite noisy complaints from people having to find new side roads to go from A to B. Those living within it are only marginally inconvenienced. The problem with some LTNs has been poor design and poor engagement by the councils concerned. The whole concept remains controversial thanks in part to the persistent criticisms of the motor lobby. “The War on Motorists” etc. |
