"Low Traffic Neighbourhoods in London reduce road traffic injuries: a controlled before-and-after analysis (2012–2024)" Is the title of the document in the link. Please note that the dates used with regard to the 20 mph rollout which was also claimed to reduce accidents. Why would we need LTNs if we now have the the 20 mph speed limit? And why would Richard's road, with the same extra safe 20 mph speed limit be any different to anyone else's extra safe 20 mph road? Will Richard still want to drive on other people's 20 mph roads? It seems the same stats are being spent again and again to justify different measures. When in reality changes that have already been introduced make past comparisons meaningless. I'm just surprised the LTN apostles have not yet claimed that the accident rate will go so low as to become negative and start to raise the dead! |
