When we had a Blue Badge and were ferrying parents to hospital appointments we found that hospitals did not have any or good enough drop off points or Blue Badge parking. We both had to take time off work as one had to drive and the other accompany. Huge hospitals meant a lot more time searching floors for wheelchairs until we needed to invest in one. Buses or hospital transport which goes around the houses and takes hours longer to get you home is at its most wonderful only when you are fitter and aren't worried about where the nearest loo is and need to eat regular meals and keep up liquid intake to stay in better health. It needs more priority and enforcement. Hospital transport is just not available in many places or to many anyway. |
