Steven, You're right, the High Street in Putney should be significantly better. However, Wholefoods are not going to Southside. I think you are thinking of Healthy Planet. In fact Wholefoods did recently make an offer on large space on Putney High Street which unfortunately did not materialise for various reasons but not due to their lack of desire. I will tell you why Southside is successful. The small matter of 1,180 car parking spaces as opposed to 250 in Putney Exchange. They also have significantly larger and well configured space available to them. The Exchange is gridlocked. Then let's compare Putney High Street to Wandsworth High Street. Simon Wright the local tramp in Putney wouldnt go shopping on Wandsworth High Street, its absolutely terrible. Southside has no competition from it's High Street wheras Putney has a high street and a shopping centre.Putney also has excellant independant shops on Upper and Lower Richmond Road. This time next year it will also have significantly better shops in the Exchange and on the High Street. |
