Rowing on the Tideway: a code of practice for rowing on the tidal Thames above Putney 2009 (aka The Tideway Code) is available online: http://www.pla.co.uk/pdfs/maritime/THE_ROWING_CODE.pdf Key point in relation to what Barbara says is on p9 "When proceeding with the tidal stream, all vessels are to keep to the star board side of the fairway." In other words, oared craft will be out at the starboard side of the fairway (the deepwater channel) if they are rowing with the tide. As Jamie says, that should mean that they always pass any oncoming motor vessels port to port. |
