It is proposed that Putney Pier is extended to provide 11 additional residential mooring berths and 2 visitor mooring berths. The extension will comprise pontoon units, mooring piles and access brows. A mono-pile with fender is also proposed on the upstream end of the existing pontoon for riverbus use. A platform is also proposed on the deck of the main pontoon. I thinks this will negatively affect the whole aspect of the river frontage in Putney. Am I alone in this opinion? Anyone know more about this application? I am concerned when reading the submitted Heritage Statement by Wessex Archaeology who are based in Wiltshire which comes to the conclusion that this development has potential to provide a positive contribution to the setting and character of this part of river. Also note that the application states that the residential vessels and other visiting vessels are not permanent features and are free to come and go, the application does not intend to cover the vessels themselves as residential units. So what is this going to look like? How big are all these vessels? How does it affect the views along, across etc? The Application went in on the 21.12.2012. Reference is 2012/6004.
