Quite right Lucille. The writing was on the wall back in July when the consultation on south east England airport capacity needs was "postponed" without explanation. We now find that there will be no consultation but an "independent review" (i.e. by a panel of "experts" prepared to regurgitate BAA propaganda). The Liberals and Labour (now anti-3rd runway) must be clapping their hands with glee as Cameron/Osborne credibility sinks even lower and the emerging prospect of re-taking a bunch of West London constituencies comes back into their view. Justine's personal political capital may actually increase. I'm sure she will rationalise and defend overseas aid vigorously but sadly, she may suffer the consequences of poor judgement by the party leadership. Medium term view; post the now inevitable Cameron/Osborne defeat, Boris for PM and Justine for Chancellor? |
