| It's not quite as simple as that. Anti-Semitism comes in many guises. There are the thugs responsible for the attacks in Golders Green, who should be locked up. Then there are the campus bullies who hurl abuse at Jewish students simply because they are Zionists. They need to be expelled. But it is more difficult to know how to contend with bien pensant liberals who avowedly condemn racism in all its forms but who seem exclusively concerned with one victim, the Palestinians, and one alleged perpetrator, Israel. These individuals may agree that Israel has a right to exist as a Jewish state. yet are happy to go on marches organised by Muslim extremists where demonstrators chant 'From the river to the sea'. They may even agree that Israel has a right to defend itself, but they they brand the Israelis as war criminals for attempting to eliminate genocidal fanatics who use the local population as human shields, making civilian casualties inevitable. |
