| Yes it is anti-Semitic, if the criticism is unfair or one-sided or if Israel is the only country criticised. Today, for example, Graham Linehan, the creator of ‘Father Ted’ accused RTE of institutional anti-Semitism over its decision to boycott the the Eurovision Song Contest because of Israel’s participation. Linehan said, ‘Singling out the world’s only Jewish state for exclusion, while no such standard is applied to any other nation, meets the internationally recognised IHRA definition of anti-Semitism. RTE has not boycotted Russia, Belarus, or Azerbaijan. It has boycotted Israel. The message is clear … RTE’s institutional anti-Semitism is normalising Jew-hatred under the guise of solidarity and it must be confronted.’ |
