| I knew you were throwing in a little provocation with calling it soccer, Michael. In Ireland it’s still commonly called soccer because ‘football’ is reserved for Gaelic football; even though you can pick up the ball with your hands and kick it with your feet…..I guess calling it ‘hand and football’ would be a bit cumbersome. In all honesty I’m not bothered what it’s called, but over the years here I’ve been ‘corrected’ for using the term ‘soccer’…..maybe I’ve been here too long as I’m now correcting others; my younger self would be appalled. |
