| Just for clarity: While closely related in the criminal justice process, being "taken into custody" and "arrested" are not strictly the same, though they often happen together. An arrest is the initial act of taking someone into custody (restricting freedom), while being in custody is the state of being held or detained by authorities. So Mandelson was taken into custody for questioning nobody said he had been arrested apart from Michael initially. |
