| Hello Gerry, As far as I understand it, soccer was used in the UK until late 60s or 70s, when it considered an "Americanism" so football became the normal term. It is true that today soccer is associated with America - and long may it continue. Personally, I do not like the term soccer, much prefer football even if I do not like the professional players of that sport. Football for school children is great fun!!! |
