Again, I’m afraid you’re missing the point (or points, rather) and are reduced to scraping the barrel.

What you shout does matter, and you haven’t commented on the analogy with the war in Ukraine. I ask again, is “Death to the Russian Armed Forces” anti-Russian? And another case: would “Death to the IRA” be anti-Irish, or, closer to home, would “Death to the Luftwaffe” have been seen as anti-German during the Blitz?

But location is, of course, relevant as with your Muslim Association analogy: I would no more go to Newham to chant against the MA than I would chant “Death to the IDF” outside a synagogue. Likewise, “Death to the IRA” might have been OK in London during the Troubles, but I think not entirely advisable on the Bogside.

And I simply don’t know – any more than you do – what is in the mind of any particular person or group chanting “From the river to the sea,” so your attribution of one particular interpretation is purely speculative.

As we seem to have reached an impasse , I suggest we draw this weary saga to a close.
