| Steven I don't think you've answered the point adequately. Firstly, Vylan, in chanting "Death, death to the IDF" was attacking an organisation not individuals in it. Suppose, for example, he'd chanted "Death, death to the RAF" (meaning the Russian Armed Forces, not our own RAF!) for their horrendous invasion of Ukraine, would you accuse him of being anti-Russian? I think not, and it is a crucial distinction. Secondly, "From the river to the sea" is wholly ambiguous; if it meant "... by getting rid of the Jews" then I would agree; but if it meant simply "From the river to the sea, Palestinians shall be free" then it has a very different complexion. I have no idea which of the two he was referring to, but in the absence of explicit reference to Jewish inhabitants it doesn't add up to antisemitism or vile Jew-hate. Incidentally, I'm sure you'll agree that the groups of young Israeli Jews chanting “Death to Arabs” and singing “May your village burn,” whilst making their way through Muslim neighbourhoods of Jerusalem’s Old City during the annual march in May marking Israel‘s conquest of the eastern part of the city, were clearly being grossly antisemitic (bearing in mind that Arabs also belong to the semitic racial group). |
