I completely agree that the significant CIL generated by the £34m Barratt development (Putney Rise) on 41% of the Elliott (ARK) playing fields should be used to retain the Dover House Road facility, for local schools and the wider community. The BBC subsequently sent me the WBC statement issued as I went to air on the Jeremy Vine show to discuss the matter, which clearly states that Elliott pupils played team sports on the grass pitches of the DHR playing fields, "a five minute walk away from the school." As the London Olympics were drawing to a close, the Council refused to send a representative to discuss the matter on national radio, but this was the main proviso, broadcast to 9m people, on which six tennis courts, an athletics track and a football pitch were sold off, so let's now see the Council put their money where their mouth was, in August 2012. |
